Is Hot Chemist a registered UK pharmacy?
Yes. Hot Chemist is a registered UK distance-selling pharmacy regulated by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). We operate in line with all UK pharmacy regulations to ensure medicines are supplied safely and appropriately.
What is a distance-selling pharmacy?
A distance-selling pharmacy provides pharmacy services remotely, without customers visiting the premises in person. All prescriptions are ordered, dispensed, and delivered in accordance with UK pharmacy regulations.
Delivery & Dispatch FAQs
When will my delivery arrive?
We aim to provide next-day prescription delivery* once your prescription has been received by our pharmacy. If you have text message notifications enabled, you will receive an automatic SMS as soon as our courier scans your prescription before it is loaded onto the delivery van. If you are unsure about your prescription delivery status, our pharmacy team can quickly confirm this for you.

Can my delivery be rescheduled?
Yes. If you are unavailable to receive your prescription delivery, we can arrange to reschedule it for a more suitable date. Please contact the pharmacy as soon as possible so we can minimise any delays and ensure the safe and timely supply of your medication.
Can you redeliver my order tomorrow morning?
Where possible, we can arrange a next-working-day prescription redelivery, including morning delivery slots between 9:00am and 12:00pm. Availability depends on your location and courier capacity. Please contact the pharmacy as soon as possible so we can check availability and make suitable arrangements.
What happens if I miss my delivery?
If a delivery attempt is missed, the courier will leave a missed delivery card with our contact details. Please contact our pharmacy team as soon as possible so we can arrange a prescription redelivery on a date that suits you and ensure the safe and timely supply of your medication.
Do you offer timed delivery slots?
Prescription deliveries may be completed either by our own pharmacy drivers or by external courier services, depending on location and service availability. Deliveries made by our pharmacy drivers are offered on an AM or PM basis during pharmacy opening hours.
Delivery times may vary depending on the delivery service used, traffic conditions, and operational demand, particularly where external couriers are involved. If you have specific delivery requirements, please contact the pharmacy team in advance and we will do our best to advise on the most suitable delivery options for you.
Stock Availability FAQs
Are certain medicines currently in stock?
Medicine stock availability can change throughout the day due to supply and demand. If you are looking for a specific medicine or product, please contact the pharmacy team and we will check current availability for you.
Can you notify me when an item comes back into stock?
Yes. If a medicine or product is temporarily unavailable, we can notify you when it is back in stock, where possible. For prescription medicines, we recommend contacting your GP or prescriber to discuss whether a suitable alternative is available. If a new prescription is issued for an alternative item, we will then be able to dispense and arrange delivery in line with our normal pharmacy services.
Do you stock specific prescription medicines?
We stock a wide range of prescription medicines. However, availability of specific medicines, strengths, or brands may vary due to supply and demand. If you are looking for a particular prescription item, please contact the pharmacy team so we can check current availability and advise you accordingly.
Prescription & Ordering FAQs
Has my prescription been received?
Once your prescription has been received by the pharmacy and entered onto our system, it will move into the dispensing process in line with our normal pharmacy procedures. If you are unsure whether your prescription has been received, please contact the pharmacy team and we can check the status for you.
Can I check the status of my prescription order?
Yes. You can check the status of your prescription order using our app, where available, or by contacting the pharmacy team directly. We can confirm whether your prescription is currently being dispensed, prepared for delivery, or has been dispatched, in line with our normal pharmacy processes.
Can you hold my prescription until a later date?
In many cases, we can delay dispensing or delivery of your prescription if you do not need your medication immediately. This is subject to prescription validity, medicine stability, and safe supply requirements. Please contact the pharmacy team to discuss your preferred date so we can advise on suitable options.
How are medicines delivered?
All medicines are securely packaged and delivered to the address you provide, in line with pharmacy and medicines handling requirements. For deliveries within Milton Keynes and Harrogate, medicines are delivered by our own pharmacy drivers. For other locations within England, we use trusted third-party courier services to support the safe and timely delivery of medicines.
Can you dispense controlled drugs?
Yes. Where legally permitted and clinically appropriate, we can dispense controlled drugs in line with UK medicines legislation. Controlled drugs must be prescribed on a valid prescription that meets all legal requirements, and dispensing is carried out in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
Payment & Account FAQs
Do I need to make a payment before delivery?
If a payment is required, such as an NHS prescription charge for patients who are not exempt, or a charge for a private prescription or private pharmacy service, payment must be settled before the item is dispatched for delivery. If payment is outstanding, the pharmacy team will contact you to arrange this before your order is sent.
How do I make a payment?
Where a payment is required, payments are made securely through the Hot Chemist app. After your prescription has been added to your basket, you can complete the usual checkout process using your card details. Once payment has been received, we will be able to proceed with dispensing and delivery in line with our normal pharmacy processes.
How do I set up my Hot Chemist App?
The Hot Chemist app is available to download on both Apple and Android devices. Once downloaded, you can link your NHS App, where available, to sync relevant information for easier access. This allows eligible prescriptions to be ordered, any required payments to be made, and prescription progress to be viewed in one place, in line with our pharmacy services.
How do I add a dependent onto my App account?
If you are a carer or manage medicines on behalf of someone else, you can add a dependent to your Hot Chemist app account. Open the app and select the “My prescriptions” section, then choose the option to add a dependent and complete the required details. Once set up, you will be able to request and monitor prescriptions for your dependent, subject to appropriate consent and pharmacy requirements.

How is my personal and medical information protected?
We handle all personal and medical information in line with UK GDPR, NHS data protection requirements, and professional pharmacy standards. Your information is used only where necessary for the safe supply of medicines and the provision of pharmacy services, and is protected using appropriate security and confidentiality measures.
Can I speak to a pharmacist?
Yes. As a distance-selling pharmacy, we provide access to a pharmacist for advice and support. You can contact the pharmacy team during our opening hours to speak with a pharmacist.
What if I have a concern or complaint?
If you have a concern or complaint about our pharmacy services, please contact the pharmacy team directly in the first instance so we can try to resolve the issue promptly. If your concern is not resolved, we can provide information on our formal complaints procedure in line with regulatory requirements.
